The Fountain Square Library will host a discussion of The Shoemaker's Wife, by Adriana Trigiani, on Thursday, April 11th at 1:30 p.m.. The second book, The Shadow Princess, I liked less. I had really enjoyed Sundaresan's first in this series, The Twentieth Wife, about Nur Jahan, the twentieth wife and the love of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. She was also the aunt of the Empress Mumtaz Mahal for whom Jahangir built the Taj Mahal. The Twentieth wife by Indu Sundaresan is a historical fiction set in the backdrop of the Mughal Empite. Here, in the first novel of Conrad Richter's Awakening Land trilogy, the Lucketts, a wild, woods-faring family, lived their roaming life, pushing ever westward as the frontier advanced and as new settlements threatened their isolation. 50 Must-Read Novels from the 20th Century.
